Program Descriptions

ADULTS (age 15 and older)

Kids Kungfu (Gongfu) -Fun, methodical, and enriching classes to help your children develop into strong, confident, and positive individuals.

 

Adults
1. Taijiquan For Health (Silver Path)
is a program designed for people who wish to gain the health benefits of Taijiquan without training as a martial art. Students in this program attend Form Classes and are taught all non-martial aspects of form, qigong, meditation, theory and philosophy as their areas of focus. Language may also introduce martial concepts, but students of the Silver Path are not required to practice the martial areas of study.

2. Taijiquan-Internal Gongfu for Health and Self-Defense (Gold Path) is a program for beginning and advanced martial artists that teaches all areas of Taijiquan presented in the Areas of Study page of this site. Students who attend all classes for Form and Taiji Gongfu will thoroughly develop the skills of Taijiquan as a complete martial art.

3.Chinese Historical Swordsmanship Program: provides instruction in beginning through advanced levels of Chinese swordplay. The classes include basic cuts, two-person drills, form, applications, and freeplay using dao (saber), dao and tengpai (saber and shield), shuang shou dao (doble handed sabre), jian (straight sword), and spear. This is an advanced practice and is an applied component of weapons forms (priamarily from the Taiji system). A detailed explanation of Chinese Swordsmanship is provided here.

Teen Program

United Mind and Body Training for Young Adults.
Teens ages fifteen to Seventeen are elligable for enrollment:

Learn martial arts and lif-skills through a curriculum of classical Chinese Gongfu!!!
The program of Taiji Gongfu for teens includes:
1. Meditation
2. Physical Conditioning
3. Self-Defense skills.
4. Martial Arts Ethics
5. Taiji Form Study and martial applications
6. Anatomy and Physiology
7. History and Culture of the Martial Arts
8. Sparring (with separate parental consent)
9. Readings on the Martial Arts

2. Teen Leadership Program- Students who have developed their skills and have demonstrated diligence, talent, and a proper attitude are invited to participate in the Leadership Program. The Leadership program includes a specialized monthly class on leadership skills and instructing methods. Students in this program also gain the opportunity to serve as Teaching assistants for new students and to partake in advanced instruction (by invitation) with adult members of the school.

Children's Gongfu Program
Small Classes and individualized instruction for children ages 6 - 14.
Children are taught the basics of gongfu systematically in a safe and fun environment. There is an emphasis on physical fitness, precision in training, proper manners and respect, age appropriate self-discipline, and decision making skills. A seperate grading (ranking) system of colored sashes is used in the kids program. When they enter the teen class, their grade is converted into the equivalent stage that they have achieved in the curriculum.

Childrens classes include: Taiji Gongfu techniques, conditioning, tumbling and rolling, controlled sparring, self-defense practice, and more.
