I have never been the type to enjoy working out. Over the years, I have joined gyms, with the best of intentions to get in shape, only to lose my commitment, slack off, and stop going. To be honest, exercising always felt like taking medicine – it would be good for me, but certainly not pleasant.

A few years ago, I decided to give T'ai Chi a try, because I had read about the health benefits. In a fit of enthusiasm, I looked for tai chi instructors in my area, which is how I met Thomas Posey. Thomas started out teaching me the beginnings of tai chi, always encouraging me to keep trying and learning, always making me feel special when I mastered a new skill, and – guess what – working out became fun and something I looked forward to doing. I’ve seen a difference in myself, too. My balance has improved, my gait is more graceful, and I feel more fit and slimmer. And I’ve been sticking with the program for years now, rather than months!

After we’d been meeting regularly for T'ai Chi instruction, Thomas suggested that I could benefit from personal training for strength and fitness, so we added lessons with calisthenics along with the weekly tai chi lessons. I was dubious at first. As much as I respected Thomas, I had trouble believing that he could motivate me to want to do things like push-ups and squats and all that stuff I used to hate in gym class at school. Thomas, however, has managed to not only motivate me to exercise regularly, he makes our sessions fun, makes me feel a sense of accomplishment at my improvements, and, most importantly, makes me want to keep coming to the gym to work out. His methods are realistic and gentle, and his techniques give a workout that exercises all my different muscle groups, improves balance, coordination and flexibility, and gets my heart pumping all without leaving me aching and sore. I’m almost 50 years old, and I’ve never been in better shape, thanks to Thomas. I can recommend him sincerely to anyone who wants a safe and sane workout.
